Week 11, Cookies ! Geo-Tracking by Uber & Lyft ?!

Hello there mates, the topic for today is cookies. I always think about the cookie monster whenever cookies was mentioned but not today. Website cookies is a term for a packet of data that a computer receives, then sends back without changing or altering it. No matter what it’s called, a computer cookie consists of information that are stored on the website.
Notice how a website can save your purchases, and can now you already visited, and even your website progress like wix are saving my blog progress.
Those may be the positive side of cookies, but the negative side of cookies can be harming as it gets because they can save your personal information, some may use it for tracking. Which a lot of people don't want, and that is why i never accepted cookies, if i want to revisit a website i'll just bookmark it. Some website are so desperate in getting our data so much that they force us to accept cookies or we can't progress further in the website.
Talking about tracking, geo tracking may not be the next big thing because people already know they are tracked whenever they use application such as Uber, Lyft, or Grab(from malaysia). But do you know they use the tracking even when you are not using the app ? i hope you know. My Samsung gives me the option to choose if i want the app to track my location all the time or only when i'm using the app. Do Iphone do that too ? as this can be an invasion of privacy because Uber can always know where am i, where i live, where i'm going. etc. Just like many people said, is privacy gone !?! or it still can be kept safely is up to you.
The cookies websites saved can be used to market us ads, just like SEO they got a hold of our data and make the best out of it even Geo-tracking may track us and market us ads related to a place we often visit. Beware..

Iphone does you let you choose whether an app uses your location ‘while using the app’, ‘ask next time’ or ‘never’. More often than not I choose never apart from for Uber and Zomato

Hello Patrick! Yes, Apple does let us choose whether we wanna allow locations to be turned on at all times, while using an app or never. Great blog! Can't wait for the next blog!
