Week 6,ADS ON MOBILE APPS!!!

Updated: Oct 7, 2020

Hello, EVERYONE. We meet again. This time we're going to discuss about mobile marketing used by SPOTIFY. The great Spotify. ah, remember the annoying " GO PREMIUM TO LISTEN TO MORE SONGS" Luckily i already have premium.

But how does Spotify become known worldwide and gain money ?

Spotify is a Freemium for listening songs, where later you have to pay to listen to more songs, to skip songs, etc. BUT THE ONE THING I WANT TO DISCUSS IS how Spotify targeted more ads to free users so that they want to pay for songs . Just look at the data !!!

Moreover Spotify offers free music through mobile phones, in which at the time 2012 people are looking for an app that streams official music through your smartphone.

Added to that with makes it more popular with web design targeted for millenials, artist also put more songs and also they have blogs and community.

Here is a video you can watch :

They are using a similar methods same as Starbucks, people who got annoyed with the Freemium model used by Spotify willl share it over their social media. FREE MARKETING !!! GENIUS!!!.

Spotify also reach out to some Fintech companies so you can pay the freemium using your e-wallet.Last but not least, your playlist can get popular, it's always fun to see other people listen to your kind of music and Spotify is connected tp other social media so you can restore your playlist using your Facebook account.

Anyway, just look at Spotify revenue, they rack up almost $1.1 Billion. Amazing marketing, useful application what more could you ask ?

4 methods used by Spotify :

  1. Targeted ads

  2. Unique and vibrant display

  3. community and blogs promotion

  4. free marketing model

Hope you have a good day !!! See you guys on the next post. Toodle loo~~

I am here to admit.. those ads on Spotify are indeed annoying and somehow kill the vibe.. and made me subscribe for premium TT I remember going into restaurants and still hear some ads when they play music via Spotify... I am surprised and really do respect on how these people don't get affected! hahah great work and research!

If you have been closely following what Spotify's strategy is right on it's to shift from being a music platform to an audio platform that would perhaps have more podcasts, informative shows. In fact, the deal with Joe Rogan recently made the market cap of Spotify skyrocket and this shows how their shifting strategy is working very well! Good Read Patrick

Hello everyone, thank you for the comments.

Po ! same here, tired of hearing the ads

Great! Lucine

Iishen i totally agree with you whilst music piracy is a problem, spotify helped reduce the number of the music piracy

Although spotify are "killing the music insdustry" because it may reduce the sales, especially for artist in selling their albums in apple music but i still think that it's the best app to date if you want to stream music.

THANK YOU FOR THE COMMENTS !!!! :0

Awesome post Patrick! I've personally used Spotify for almost 5 years now, and I'm still enjoying the music app! I think the reason for Spotify's success also lies in the fact that it managed to solve the issue of music piracy, and providing a mutually beneficial solution for artists and consumers.
